This volume is the translation of Senso religioso (Rizzoli, 1997). Compared with the previous Russian edition, also based on the Rizzoli 1997 edition (“Christianskaja Rossija”, 2000), some corrections were made to improve the translation.
The work includes the Preface by James Francis Stafford (Predislovie, pp. I-IV; Rizzoli, 1997, pp. V-IX) and the author’s Introduction to the Italian edition (“Vvedenie”, p. V; Rizzoli, 1997, p. XI).
The afterword is a text by Aleksandr Men’, titled U poroga chrama (pp. 169-170), originally written for the Russian 1991 edition (Real’nost’, razum i religija, “Christianskaja Rossija”, 1991, pp. 5-7; translation of the Senso religioso, Jaca Book, 1986).
