The present pamphlet, published in October 1992 as a supplement to the weekly “Il Sabato”, brings together the notes of a conversation between the author and a group of university students held at La Thuile (Equipe del CLU, 19-25 August 1992); the text is edited by Carmine di Martino. In 1993 the article was republished as an appendix to the miscellaneous volume Un avvenimento di vita, cioè una storia. Itinerario di quindici anni concepiti e vissuti (EDIT-Il Sabato, 1993, pp. 473-502): on that occasion it was carefully revised, with the removal of the introductory points (1992, p. 4) and changes to the paragraphing: the first paragraph titled “Il soggetto costituito” (1992, pp. 5-8) became “La coscienza dell’io impedita” (EDIT-Il Sabato, 1993, pp. 475-477) and also comprised the first of the introductory points titled “Il sentimento della propria persona”; “Nota. Quasi una parentesi” (1992, p. 26) became paragraph 7 titled “L’inizio di un soggetto nuovo” (EDIT-Il Sabato, 1993, pp. 489-493). The following year the text was reissued in the booklet È, se opera (supplement to “30 Giorni”, 2, 1994, pp. 7-40). In 2000, finally, “Litterae Communionis-Tracce” (2, 2000, insert; translations) reissued it without variations compared with the 1993 edition (EDIT-Il Sabato, 1993).
