In 1977 Jaca Book pressed the author to authorize the reissue of Il senso, previously published in 1966 with a printing of some 100,00 copies, and proposed to retain its original format (the 1966 edition is now part of Senso di Dio e l’uomo moderno. La “questione umana” e la novità del Cristianesimo, BUR, 1994, pp. 7-75; this in turn was the revised and corrected edition of Senso religioso, GIAC, 1957).

The text, published in the Già e non ancora series, was preceded by a “Nota di edizione” (pp. 7-10) by Jaca Book, which explained the reason for its republication and explained its editorial development, anticipating a future volume which would include other lectures and lessons delivered by the author and enable him to explore in greater depth the present ideas (Il senso religioso. Volume primo del perCorso, Jaca Book, 1986, 193 pp.).

The plan envisioned the development of the themes contained in the 1966 edition in a number of volumes; this was Il perCorso (Jaca Book, 1986-1992), republished in its definitive format by Rizzoli between 1997 and 2003.

In 1994 Jaca Book republished the 1977 text in the first of the two volumes of miscellaneous writings titled Opere 1966-1992. Vol. 1. Il PerCorso (pp. 619-682).
