This volume is the republication of the earlier Il rischio educativo (Jaca Book, 1977), with the addition of an initial chapter titled “Spunti introduttivi per la nuova edizione” (pp. 9-29) written by the author in June 1986 for the publication of the Rischio educativo in French (Le risque éducatif, Novelle Cité, 1986, pp. 7-25). It is followed by a “Nota alla prima edizione” (pp. 33-35, by the publisher, later removed from the editions published by SEI, 1995 and Rizzoli, 2005).

“Tempi e contesti nell’attuazione di un metodo” (part of “Spunti introduttivi per la nuova edizione”, pp. 25-29) was subsequently published complete in Realtà e giovinezza. La sfida (SEI, 1995, pp. 158-161) with the title “Ragione e compagnia”.

In 1994 Jaca Book republished the text in the second of the two volumes containing the author’s writings published under its imprint (Opere 1966-1992. Vol. 2. Il rischio educativo, pp. 481-555).

In 1995 the publication became an integral part of the volume Il rischio educativo. Come creazione di personalità e di storia, (SEI, 1995, pp. 3-56 e 157-162).

In 2005 the text was published in its definitive format by Rizzoli, with the exception of the part “Conversazione con Luigi Giussani” (1988, pp. 101-110).
