This volume is a collection of texts written between 1963 and 1965 (with the exception of the final conversation dated 1977).

The section “Dinamica e fattori dell’avvenimento educativo” (pp. 13-65) is the edition, revised and corrected by the author, of the text Adolescente, famiglia, scuola, excerpted from the Enciclopedia dell’adolescenza (edited by A. Valsecchi, Editrice Queriniana, 1965, pp. 263-286), but it also contains texts dating back to 1960.

“Crisi e dialogo” (pp. 67-86) dates from 1964 (no earlier publications have emerged). “Struttura dell’esperienza” (pp. 87-95) is the text of the booklet L’esperienza (Gioventù Studentesca, 1963) written in reply to a letter from the then Cardinal of Milan G.B. Montini. The section “L’esperienza cristiana” (1977, points a, b, c, pp. 93-95) also appeared in Appunti di metodo cristiano (1963, pro manuscripto published by Gioventù Studentesca, pp. 44-45; now in Il cammino al vero è un’esperienza, SEI, 1995, pp. 97-98, within the section “L’incontro come esperienza”). The text was republished complete in “Litterae Communionis-Tracce” under the title L’esperienza (4, 2002, insert).

The section “Conversazione con Luigi Giussani” (pp. 97-110), is an account of a dialogue with an editor of Jaca Book recorded in 1977.

After various new editions (Jaca Book, 1988; Il rischio educativo, Opere 1966-1992, Vol. 2. Il rischio educativo, Jaca Book, 1994, pp. 481-555; Il rischio educativo. Come creazione di personalità e di storia, SEI, 1995), in 2005 the text was republished in its definitive format by Rizzoli. Removed from this edition were the “Nota di edizione” (Jaca Book, 1977, pp. 9-12) and Part IV “Conversazione con Luigi Giussani” (Jaca Book, 1977, pp. 97-110).
