In the summer of 1959 this small volume grew out of discussions among young people committed to the experience of the Gioventù Studentesca movement, which later grew into Communion and Liberation. It presents “a first note of systematic reflection” on the experience of the beginnings of the movement (imprimatur received in September 1959).

In 1963 the volume was reissued with amendments and additions and subsequently went through several reprints.

The text, in the fuller version noted above, was republished in 1995 as part of the volume, Il cammino al vero è un’esperienza, and titled “Gioventù Studentesca: Riflessioni sopra un’esperienza”, SEI, 1995, pp. 5-43.
