This volume is a translation of Il rischio educativo. Come creazione di personalità e di storia (SEI, 1995) including the Preface by Nikolaus Lobkowicz (Vorwort, Eos Verlag, 1996, pp. 7-12; SEI, 1995, pp. VII-XI) and the author’s «Introduction» written in June 1995 for the new Italian edition («Einführung», 1996, pp. 13-30; SEI, 1995, pp. XIII-XXV).

Compared with the Italian edition of 1995 it lacks the chapter titled «Spunti introduttivi» (SEI, 1995, pp. 5-17) present in the Jaca Book edition of 1988, «Part II. Viterbo 1977» (SEI, 1995, pp. 57-94) and «Parte terza. Insistenza» with the exception of the chapter «Dialoghi», but translated from the Jaca Book edition of 1988 («Conversazione con Luigi Giussani», pp. 101-110) and not from the enlarged version contained in the 1995 volume («Ein Gaspräch mit Luigi Giussani», 1996, pp. 87-95; SEI, 1995, pp. 157-173).

As well as for the italian edition, in April 2002 the part «Die Struktur der Erfahrung» (pp. 82-85) was republished in «Spuru» and titled Uber die Erfahrung (4, 2002, insert).
